Let’s work toward common ground in Washington

I thought Congress’ 12-member debt reduction committee might help solve the vast differences between the Democrats and the Republicans in debt reduction. However, we’re back to square one because all six of the Republican members have pledged to not raise taxes.

This is just unbelievable.

Apparently we are doomed to a continuation of an unwinnable battle. I hope the Republicans have misjudged the tolerance of this nation. I think a great majority of our citizens are ready for some progress and are totally fed up and want to see both parties start working together for the good of our country.

Rather than making themselves look like heroes, the Republicans are looking like spoiled children who only care for themselves.
