BLM open house at Red Rock Canyon visitor center to focus on education

Children’s field trips will be the topic of the Bureau of Land Management’s fifth open house this year.

The BLM will host the open house at the Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Visitor Center from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 18. Presentations start at 2:10 p.m. and 6:10 p.m.

The August open house focuses on two Red Rock environmental education programs, field trip scheduling procedures and the Explore the Great Outdoors teacher workshop.

Park fees will be waived for attendees if they are participating in the open house.

The BLM open house series started in April and occurs the third Thursday of each month. Past discussions have included cycling in Red Rock, preventing large fires and transportation issues. Meeting agendas can be found at the Las Vegas BLM website.
