A 2013 trial date has been set for a once "legally dead" Mississippi man facing federal charges in the kidnapping of a 12-year-old Las Vegas girl whose body was found last year in Louisiana.
Thomas Steven Sanders had been declared legally dead in 1994 after abandoning his family seven years earlier. He's now suspected in the deaths of Lexis Roberts and her mother, Suellen Roberts.
Lexis Robert's body was found Oct. 8 in Louisiana's Catahoula Parish. The mother was found in northwestern Arizona's Yavapai County in November.
Authorities say Sanders and Suellen Roberts had been in a relationship.
The trial is set for Jan. 14, 2013, in Alexandria, La., where he's charged with the girl's kidnapping.
Sanders has pleaded not guilty.
