Two-vehicle crash kills man in Pahrump

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers said today that a two-vehicle accident in Pahrump left a man dead Monday night.

Troopers said the accident happened at 8:42 p.m. Monday at the intersection of State Route 160 and Irene Street.

The preliminary investigation indicates a white Chrysler Cirrus, driven by George Saffeels, was traveling east on Irene Street approaching the intersection of State Route 160, troopers said.

Saffeels ran a stop sign at the intersection and went into the path of an oncoming GMC Yukon, which was traveling south on State Route 160, troopers said. The Yukon struck the left side of Saffeels’ vehicle.

A medical helicopter took Saffeels to University Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital, troopers said.
