Sweet Tomatoes to open ‘express’ eatery in Henderson

Henderson will be home to Nevada’s first Sweet Tomatoes Express, a quick-service salad restaurant, come Aug. 29.

The sister restaurant Sweet Tomatoes, known for its salad and soup buffet, is shrinking for people on the go and introducing its new Sweet Tomatoes Express location at 10520 S. Eastern Ave., in the Horizon Pointe shopping center.

The salad shop is hiring and plans to fill 20 positions. Those interested can apply in person at 2650 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway.

Salads at the express restaurant will be prepared cafeteria-style, where customers can chose from 30 fresh toppings. Homemade soup will be available as a side and muffins or cookies will be available for dessert.

“Express is all the foods you expect from Sweet Tomatoes but a to-go option,” Sweet Tomatoes spokeswoman Tracy Marks said. “We have premium proteins like marinated chicken, shrimp and steak. We’ll have a large salad bar and soup from scratch.”

Express meals will start at $5.99 and go up to $13, depending on what customers add, compared with the $9.99 buffet meals at the original Sweet Tomatoes.

Henderson residents who become a fan of Sweet Tomatoes Express on Facebook and Twitter will be invited to pre-opening activities from Aug. 25 to 27.

Customers who visit the restaurant during the grand opening week will receive a reusable plastic Sweet Tomatoes Express cup they can use to get free beverages for a limited time, and the first 100 in line on opening day will receive gift cards.
