Warm and sunny for Las Vegas Valley

Thunderstorms possible over southeast Mohave County, forecasters say

Sunny skies and a dry heat that will be a couple of degrees above normal are heading to the Las Vegas Valley today, according to the National Weather Service.

Meanwhile, isolated thunderstorms are possible over extreme southeast Mohave County, the weather service said.

Moisture will begin to push back west on Friday with a chance of thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday across the eastern portion of the region, forecasters said.

High temperatures in the Las Vegas Valley will range from 99 degrees on the west side to around 108 degrees on the east side, forecasters said.

At 5:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 82 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 80 degrees. The record low was 60 degrees, set in 1937.

Around the valley just before 6 a.m., temperatures were 75 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 72 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 79 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures at McCarran were to rise today to 88 degrees by 9 a.m., to 100 degrees by noon and reach a high of 105 degrees by 3 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 103 degrees and the record high was 115 degrees, set in 1940.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 104 degrees by 6 p.m., to 96 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 89 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Thursday's morning low will be 81 degrees and Thursday's high will climb to 104 degrees, they said.
