A car struck a tree near the westbound lanes of Summerlin Parkway and the off-ramp to Town Center Drive this morning, sending two people to the hospital, fire officials said.
Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said the accident occurred at 5:16 a.m. The collision ignited the car on fire, trapping one person inside, he said.
Firefighters rescued one victim from inside the vehicle, Szymanski said. Both people were taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit.
The Town Center Drive ramp was closed to traffic.
It’s not clear what led to the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
