If chocolate pizza sounds like some sad 3rd grade birthday party idea, you haven’t tried Max Brenner’s pie. The Forum Shops dessert stop and restaurant makes their pizza using regular dough, as opposed to a cookie crust. The balance between sugary toppings and savory crust yields a slice that’s satisfying, not sickeningly sweet. Even better, it’s easy enough to recreate at home.
Chocolate Pizza
Max Brenner—Chocolate by the Bald Man
1 lb. Store-bought pizza dough
2 tspn. Unsalted butter, melted
1/2 oz. Milk chocolate chips
1/2 oz. White chocolate chips
1 cup Chopped large marshmallows or miniature marshmallows
Other toppings, as desired
Restaurant
- Max Brenner
- At the Forum Shops, 462-8790
Position the oven rack on the bottom of the oven and preheat to 450 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper
Roll the dough into a 9-inch round. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Using your fingers, make indentations all over the dough. Brush with the melted butter. Bake until the crust is crisp and golden brown, about 20 minutes.
Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips, marshmallows and other toppings as desired. Bake until the chocolate just begins to melt, about 2 minutes. Cut the pizza into wedges and serve.
Yield: 8-10 servings
