Sunny, breezy and warm weekend ahead for Las Vegas

Dry weather pattern expected through the middle of next week, forecasters say

Put the umbrella away, fill the ice bucket and reserve a spot by the pool — a dry, warm and breezy weekend is on the way for the Las Vegas Valley.

Dry weather with temperatures near to slightly above normal, with highs hitting around 105 degrees, can be expected this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds will be from the south to southwest, gusting 25 to 30 mph, the weather service said.

Highs in the Las Vegas Valley today will range from 97 degrees on the west side to around 107 on the east side, forecasters said.

The dry weather pattern is expected to remain in place at least through the middle of next week, forecasters said.

At 5:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 80 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 81 degrees. The record low was 63 degrees, set in 1953 and 1944.

Around the valley just before 6 a.m., temperatures were 71 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 77 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 78 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 88 degrees by 9 a.m., to 99 degrees by noon and reach a high of 105 degrees by 3 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 104 degrees and the record high was 113 degrees, set in 1969.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 103 degrees by 6 p.m., to 97 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 90 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Saturday's morning low will be 80 degrees and Saturday's high will climb to 104 degrees, they said.
