Las Vegas businessman named to state’s Economic Forum

CARSON CITY – Las Vegas businessman Ken Wiles has been named to the Economic Forum that makes the prediction of how much tax revenue the state will collect.

Gov. Brian Sandoval said Wiles will fill the unexpired term of John Restrepo, who resigned.

Wiles is managing director of Acceleron, which provides financial advice to companies. For 17 years, he was a professor of finance at the University of North Carolina.

Sandoval said, “From serving as a professor to working day in and day out in the financial world, Ken’s intimate knowledge of how the economy works will now benefit his fellow Nevadans.”

The Economic Forum makes projections on how much money the state will have, then the governor and Legislature must follow it in building a biennial budget unless taxes are raised.
