Henderson man convicted for child porn possession loses appeal

A Henderson man sentenced last year to more than 17 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography lost his appeal Tuesday in a decision handed down from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mark Chanley had argued that U.S. District Court in Las Vegas, with Senior Judge Lloyd George presiding, violated his right to a speedy trial and should have granted his motion to suppress evidence. He also argued there was insufficient evidence to support his conviction.

But the Circuit Court ruled that George acted properly, stating that Chanley consented to the continuances in his trial, that his motion to suppress evidence was untimely and that there was sufficient evidence to support the conviction.
