Firefighters battled a two-acre brush fire in the northwest part of the valley, near Alexander Road and Cliff Shadows Parkway, the Bureau of Land Management said.

The fire, which started Thursday night, did not threaten any buildings and no injuries were reported, officials said. The BLM reports that the fire was caused by humans and is under investigation.

A crew of 45 firefighters worked to put out the fire, which was expected to be contained by about noon Friday. As of shortly before 2 a.m., the fire was 80 percent contained, officials said. Resources assigned to fight the blaze, being referred to as the Box Mine Fire, included a hand crew, two utility terrain vehicles, two engines and a water tender, officials said.
