Poets, freestylers, singers and stand-up comics are all welcome at the Painters and Poets Jam.

Five reasons to attend Painters and Poets Jam, every Saturday night from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at Bar + Bistro:
1. There’s food. Eat gourmet tapas and sip on wine while you listen to local poets perform some sassy spoken word. No style is off-limits with this talented crowd—life in Las Vegas, love, sex, strippers, politics ... you get the idea.
2. There’s music, too. While each poet rocks the mic, local jam band/rotating collective Interzone sets the scene even further with smooth, jazzy tunes.
3. It’s brought to you by Born and Raised Productions, the duo that also puts together the 18b Music Festival. Painters and Poets, which started last October with just four poets, now has enough artists to fill three and a half hours, co-organizer Erik Amblad says.
4. You’ll be surrounded by artists. Venture off of the patio and you can mix and mingle with local painters, or just watch in awe as they work on their latest.
5. Feeling gutsy? Get there a little before 7 and you can sign up to perform. Poets, freestylers, singers and stand-up comics are welcome.
