Electric Daisy Carnival film won’t screen in Las Vegas

Trouble continues to plague the Electric Daisy Carnival. Regal Cinemas, Cinemark and AMC have all announced the cancellation of their planned August 4 screenings of The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience. So while the documentary will still be shown in some cities, no Las Vegas theaters will offer the film.

The decision follows the movie’s disastrous LA premiere last week, in which thousands crowded outside Grauman’s Chinese Theater to hear an announced DJ set by Kaskade. The event was canceled over safety concerns. Bottles and rocks were thrown, and police shot bean bags into the crowd.

The only chain to release a statement so far is AMC, which was not scheduled to show the film in Las Vegas: “The safety and security of our guests and associates at AMC is a top priority. Due to the incident in Los Angeles, we have decided to not show the Electric Daisy Carnival Event scheduled for August 4.”

Regal and Cinemark had planned to show the film here.

We at Weekly can’t help but consider this latest turn of event a bit ironic. After all, Las Vegas did host the year’s largest EDC fest in June without significant incident.
