After a day of wet and cloudy weather, Las Vegas will have mostly sunny skies this morning, but a chance for scattered thunderstorms moves in again this afternoon.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop today, mainly over the mountains and then move to the northeast, according to the National Weather Service.

The stronger storms will be capable of producing damaging winds, the weather service said.

Thunderstorm chances will decrease from west to east Tuesday and Wednesday, but any stronger storms may still produce severe weather, forecasters said.

On Sunday, most areas in Las Vegas got between .05 and .10 of an inch, with McCarran International Airport recording .06 of an inch for the day, forecasters said.

At 5:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 74 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 79 degrees. The record low was 66 degrees, set in 1940.

Around the valley just before 5 a.m., temperatures were 74 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 74 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 71 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 84 degrees by 9 a.m., to 91 degrees by noon and reach a high of 98 degrees by 5 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 104 degrees and the record high was 116 degrees, set in 1979 and 1938.

Temperatures are expected to be 98 degrees at 6 p.m., the drop to 95 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 91 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Tuesday's morning low will be 83 degrees and Tuesday's high will climb to 101 degrees, they said.
