Registration to open Aug. 15 for Henderson’s fall programs

Henderson residents looking to sign up for a yoga class or enroll their kids in a youth sports league should mark Aug. 15 on their calendars.

That's the first day of registration for the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department's fall programs.

This is the first year the city is opening all enrollment on a single day. Previously, staggered enrollment dates had given a priority to those who registered online.

This year's single start date will ensure more fair access, Parks and Recreation spokeswoman Kim Becker said in a statement.

The most popular classes tend to fill up quickly, so officials are encouraging the public to register early to get the classes they want.

The department offers programs at each of its eight recreation and sports complexes in Henderson.

Sports leagues offer adults and children the chance to participate in everything from soccer to basketball to fencing.

Other programs focus on health and wellness, acting, cooking or learning musical instruments.

For a complete listing of classes and activities, visit the city's Henderson Happenings guide.

Registration begins at 5 a.m. Aug. 15. Residents can register by mail, by visiting the Parks and Recreation website or in person at any City of Henderson recreation center. For information, call 267-4000.
