Police identify woman, 68, found dead in her home

The 68-year-old woman found dead in her Las Vegas home Friday after an apparent robbery died from strangulation, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner identified the victim as Katherine Cole, whose death was ruled a homicide. Her official cause of death was from asphyxia due to pressure on the neck, the coroner said.

Metro Police are looking for two men who were using bank cards belonging to Cole. Authorities said her wallet and a 2000 Acura with Nevada license plates 805-MSN were stolen.

Cole was found dead about 3:30 p.m. Friday at her home in the 3500 block of Casa Grande Avenue, near Valley View and Oakey boulevards.

Patrol officers found Cole after being dispatched to her home because she hadn’t been seen in a day, police said. She was last seen Thursday afternoon leaving the casino where she worked.

Officers found the garage door open and Cole’s body inside the house, police said.

Surveillance footage from local stores showed two Hispanic men using her debit and credit cards, police said.

One was described as 30 to 35 years old, 5-foot 7 to 5-foot-9 and wearing a blue or gray jacket, light blue baseball cap, black sweat pants and white athletic shoes.

The other man is in his 30s, about 5-foot-7 and was wearing a striped, short-sleeve shirt, white pants and white shoes. They were seen driving a red sedan.
