It’s time for us all to make educating children a priority

I say we abandon beautifying the landscaping at freeway exits and entrances, for example, and invest those dollars into educating our children. I say increase the sales tax by a penny or two for educational purposes.

I say vote for honest politicians (oops, sorry that’s an oxymoron) who support education as a priority. Enhancing and increasing educational opportunities must be first and foremost in any and all budgetary issues.

Let’s not underestimate the importance of knowledge. Education is a weapon to counterbalance ignorance. Our children must become our priority or else I would hate to think of what they will become — and what will happen to our country being run by illiterates who could have possibly been geniuses if we had contributed to their worth.

Come on, people, doing the right thing is what we must do! A first-class public education should remain as a God-given right and a parental and nonparental responsibility. A college education must not become out of reach or just a dream because it’s unaffordable.
