Baseball clinic to raise money for Summerlin Little Leaguer’s medical costs

In an effort to support one of its own, the Summerlin North Little League is hosting a Spring Break Baseball Clinic at Trails Park on April 18.

The cost is $25 per player with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the SNLL/Piro Family Medical Fund. Jaxon Piro, 10, a Summerlin North Little Leaguer, recently underwent a successful surgery to remove a brain tumor, and money raised by the clinic will help pay for his medical expenses.

Former professional minor leaguers Evan Greusel, Travis Brown, Mike Bryant and Harold Eckert -- all of whom now coach professionally -- along with Dave Clark, a former manager for the Houston Astros, will offer their expertise at the clinic. Players and coaches from the Las Vegas 51's are also expected to make an appearance.

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at Trails Park, 1910 Spring Gate Lane. A two-hour clinic will follow from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., players of different age groups will engage in friendly games to cap off the day.
