For the second time in less than a month, a Henderson police officer has been accused of soliciting a prostitute who actually was an undercover officer.

John Coggs, 40, was arrested by Metro Police on Sept. 10 after an undercover police officer posing as a prostitute said he solicited her for oral sex.

According to the arrest report, Coggs was driving near the intersection of Craig Road and Las Vegas Boulevard North at about 7:30 a.m. when he pulled into a 7-Eleven parking lot to talk with the undercover police officer.

After a brief conversation, Coggs talked the “prostitute” down from a $40 charge for oral sex to a $25 charge, the report said. Marked police cars made a vehicle stop in the 3900 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North, the report said, after the woman guided him to meet her behind a local restaurant.

Coggs was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Another Henderson police officer, Michael Stevens, 34, was arrested Aug. 22 after he allegedly solicited an undercover Metro Police officer for sex.
