Yee-haw! South Valley Community Theatre is bringing back the Wild West.
SVC Theatre, founded in July, will be performing at the Nevada Wild Fest, which runs Oct. 15 to 17 at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. About 20 kids, who range in age from 5 to 16 years old, will put on “Campfire Wisdom: A Wild West Musical Review.”
The 20- to 30-minute show will feature “old, folksy” songs such as “Buffalo Gals” and “Grandfather’s Clock,” said the group’s managing director Trish Wade.
Wade said she co-compiled the play with Margie Samuels, the play’s director. This is the first performance for the newly founded troupe.
“It’s going to be really, really cute,” Wade said. “They’re all having lots of fun at rehearsals…it’s going to be a really good experience for them.”
The play doesn’t have any lead actors, she said, so all of the kids get to play an important role.
The cost to get into Nevada Wild Fest is $7, Wade said, which includes the ability to see all the shows on the stage.
SVC Theatre will perform at 4 p.m. Oct. 15; 6 p.m. Oct. 16; and 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Oct. 17.
