Blue Star Mothers want to send holiday cheer to deployed soldiers

The Blue Star Mothers of Henderson and Boulder City are gathering names of local soldiers who are serving overseas so they can mail them Christmas stockings.

The mothers and the City of Henderson are asking people who know soldiers who are deployed to send contact information using the city's website. Each soldier will receive a stocking packed with supplies, treats and memories of home.

Last Christmas season, the Blue Star Mothers of Henderson and Boulder City sent about 1,000 stockings to troops deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and other locations around the globe.

This year, they hope to stuff 1,200 stockings.

Blue Star Mothers is an organization of moms with sons or daughters who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces.
