Henderson Chamber of Commerce announces candidate endorsements

The Henderson Chamber of Commerce has announced its candidate endorsements for the Nov. 2 election.

The group interviewed more than 78 candidates before making its selections, committee chairman Rick Smith said in a statement.

About one-third of the endorsed candidates who identify with a political party were Democrats. In all, the chamber endorsed 33 candidates for offices within the state.

The Chamber said it chose candidates who were most in line with the Chamber’s vision for small- and medium-sized businesses. Those businesses make up most of the Chamber’s membership, Smith said.

For governor, it endorsed Republican nominee Brian Sandoval. The group endorsed incumbent Democrat Ross Miller for secretary of state and Republican Steven Martin for state treasurer.

The Chamber doesn't endorse candidates for federal office, such as the U.S. Senate race between Democrat Harry Reid and Republican Sharron Angle. Find the full list of candidates here.
