A preliminary court hearing for a former Boulder City constable accused of breaking into his girlfriend’s house and stealing weapons has been rescheduled again.

According to court records, Larry Markotay is now set to appear Dec. 16 in Henderson Justice Court for a preliminary hearing previously scheduled for Aug. 24.

Markotay is facing felony charges for grand larceny and possession of stolen property.

A preliminary hearing had previously been set for July 19.

Markotay’s lawyer, William Terry, didn’t respond to requests for comment on the status of the case. Court records don’t indicate a reason for why the hearing has been postponed again. Previous reasons were to allow the lawyers to more thoroughly review the details of the case.

Police arrested Markotay at his home on March 10 for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident on Feb. 22 when he crashed into a light pole at the corner of Utah and 7th streets in Boulder City.

In the following investigation, police searched Markotay’s home and found more than 80 firearms, including a handgun with its serial number scratched off and others with missing documentation, authorities said. He later admitted to picking the lock of his ex-girlfriend’s house on Feb. 14 and stealing the guns, police said.

Markotay resigned in April after serving as the city’s constable for 15 years.
