The average gas price in Nevada has fallen in the past month, making the average cost for a gallon of fuel about the same as it was last September.
The Silver State’s gas prices are now the same as the national average -- $2.84 -- after the national average fell 6 cents in August, according to a monthly gas price report by AAA.
Prices in Southern Nevada continue to be below those in the northern part of the state.
The average price of a gallon of gas is $2.73 in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson, a 14-cent decrease for Las Vegas and North Las Vegas and a 15-cent fall for Henderson.
Gas costs an average of $2.93 a gallon in Reno, 23 cents less than last month; $2.87 in Carson City, a 5-cent decrease; $2.95 in Sparks, a 21-cent decrease; and $3.20 in Elko, where prices fell 1 cent.
Nevada’s prices have fallen significantly since the Labor Day weekend and the end of the summer travel season, AAA spokesman Michael Geeser said in a statement.
Nevada is tied with Indiana for the 10th highest gas prices in the continental United States, AAA said.
The highest average gas price is in Alaska, where fuel costs $3.52 a gallon. California’s $3.02 average is the highest in the lower 48 states, the auto club said.
