Desert Oasis opens league play by beating Western

Team pages

The Desert Oasis High football team had more than 350 yards of offense in the first half in beating host Western 49-6 in the Southwest Division opener for both schools.

A week after being shutout by Silverado, Desert Oasis (2-1) received multiple touchdowns from Kambrenn Heatley and Devin Fortenberry.

“It is starting to come together. I don’t know to explain it,” Desert Oasis coach Faron Seibel said. “We have a lot of kids playing both ways, and they are getting used to it. They are getting in shape.”

Kambrenn Heatley’s brother, Chaunsi , also scored for the Diamondbacks, while sophomore Mark Fredricks added a scoring run.

Western fell to 1-1.
