Catelyn Sandoval

A 2-year-old girl from Idaho who authorities say was abducted in the middle of the night by her mother is believed to be safe near Farmington, N.M., authorities said this morning.

The Nampa Police Department in Idaho canceled the Amber Alert at 10 a.m. today that had been issued Tuesday in surrounding states, including Nevada, authorities said.

Nampa Police said they have credible leads indicating that Catelyn Sandoval is unhurt with her mother, Georgina Sandoval, in New Mexico.

When the Amber Alert was issued, authorities said Georgina Sandoval was possibly headed to the four corners area of New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona. She had allegedly made suicidal threats to Catelyn's father, police said.

  1. This shows another abuse of the Amber Alert system, originally put in place for STRANGER abductions. It's actually a very rare thing for a natural parent to harm his or her child.

Put the blame where it really belongs -- this cruel joke of a court system that cuts parents out of their kids' lives under that BS called "custody" and "visitation." I know about that firsthand. Forget Constitutions, equal rights and all the other noble principles our republic is founded on -- it can easily drive people to extreme acts.

Additionally this is a case under federal law, the Indian Child Welfare Act. The tribe rules on what happens to this little girl.

Get on it, Sun -- what's the rest of this story??
