With school back in session, the Las Vegas police and school officials are stressing to parents and students that bullying and cyberbullying won’t be tolerated.
Officials from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department and the Clark County School District discuss changes to school policies regarding bullying and tips on what parents can do to prevent it at a Tuesday news conference.
Metro Lt. Raymond Steiber and School District Police Capt. Jim Ketsaa will also discuss a letter to parents from Sheriff Douglas Gillespie and Superintendent Walt Rulffes, which will also be posted on ParentLink.
The press conference will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 7 at the east entrance of Gibson Middle School, 3900 W. Washington Ave.
According to a 2004 study by i-SAFE, Inc., a non-profit foundation dedicated to Internet safety education, 42 percent of 1,500 students grades 4 to 8 have been bullied while online.
