Man wins big at California casino before fatal robbery
Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 | 11:32 a.m.
Police say a man who hit it big at a Southern California casino was robbed and killed after apparently being followed from the gambling hall.
Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna says the 55-year-old man won several thousand dollars at the Hawaiian Gardens Casino early Friday and was heading home with a woman when a car cut him off in Santa Ana.
Bertagna says the drivers got into a fight after the suspect demanded the winnings and the victim went down. As the suspect drove off, he ran over the man.
Bertagna doesn't know how much money was taken. An autopsy was scheduled Friday to determine cause of death.
Bertagna says the man's name was not released because his family had not been notified.
The woman was uninjured.

Safer in Vegas.
They aren't telling us who they were but I already know from my own sources that they were both Mexican. This is a very sad sad story.
@avitech
Do you have confirmation they are citizens of Mexico or have parents born in Mexico? Or do they "look Mexican" because I know some people who are mistaken to be Mexican but are not in any way hispanic.
Should have shot the guy with his concealed carry Glock 27.
sign of the times. the people who did the deed were probably on probation. The judicial system is putting the general public in jeopardy. We are doomed.
the scary part of the scenario is someone watched him the entire time in that casino ...probably alot of excitement and action ...this killer actually stalked this poor guy who finally got a break in life w/a little luck and this scum not only had to take it away from him but had to kill him too...we don't have to worry about that here because you can't hit sh$t lol
If I ever hit a giant jackpot it will probably be the day nuclear war broke out.
The post some put on this story is idiotic... Your sources say,, if you all know so much maybe you should lead the police to the suspects and get the reward for it.... This can happen here just as well as anywhere and it might not be the end of the world.... Anyhow,, who was the woman he was with.....
Safer in Vegas? Thats so not true. Its just the crimes on the Strip don't get out. The assaults and robberies that happen are kept hush hush. Bad for business.
easier pickins in California, its almost impossible to get a concealed gun permit there unless your an actor.
It's safer in Vegas because no one wins here anymore!
shame. i think if i won money in a public place i'd be scanning the area to see if i was followed on foot and then followed by car. and don't get out of your damn car!
Once I gambled on a river boat located in a sketchy neighborhood of St Louis. Winners (not me) were escorted to their transportation by security. But even that would not have helped these poor victims.
Sadly the way this economy is going, once they cut off unemployment benefits, I am carrying my gun. In Vegas as long as it is visible {shoulder holster outside your shirt} and registered this is legal. My dogs will also be going alot more places with me. Thank God for direct deposit.
