The Sunrise Region champion will be?

The Foothill High football team wrapped up the regular season Thursday with a 45-24 home victory against Coronado.

The Falcons (9-1 overall, 5-1 Southeast) were already locked into the No. 2 seed in next week’s Sunrise Regional playoffs and will host Desert Pines in a quarterfinal game. They beat Desert Pines 31-12 earlier in the season, but coach Marty Redmond knows beating an opponent twice is no easy task.

“We know (Desert Pines) is a real physical team,” Redmond said. “We have to do a good job of tackling. They will try to pound the ball at us.”

Against Coronado, Cameron Thurman and Dylan Freiling scored touchdowns on fumble returns, and Michael Gamboa scored on a kickoff return.

Also, Miles Killebrew had a touchdown run, and Mikie Charlton and James Henderson had touchdown receptions.
