Thunderstorms crackled and boomed through the Las Vegas Valley tonight, bringing lightning, torrents of brief heavy rain and the possibility of hail.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue reported no weather-related emergency calls except for a couple trees hit by lightning. There were no more car wrecks reported than normal, officials said.

By 10 p.m., McCarran International Airport had recorded .11 of an inch of rain, Henderson Executive Airport recorded .03 of an inch and North Las Vegas Airport reported a trace.

By about 10 p.m., the National Weather Service radar indicated that the thunderstorms had moved west of Interstate 15 and were into the western part of the valley.

The weather service issued a forecast about 9:04 p.m. that said the thunderstorms would be moving through the valley through 10:15 p.m.

"Small hail ... Wind gusts to 35 mph ... And very brief heavy rain can be expected with these storms," the weather service said. "Streets may become covered with water and become very slick. Motorists are encouraged to slow down on the wet roads."

Overnight, forecasters are calling for scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected again on Wednesday, forecasters say.
