Las Vegas man dies in two-car crash

Site of fatal crash

A 35-year-old Las Vegas man died in a car crash Saturday morning in the eastern valley.

The man, who was driving a 1983 Chevrolet Cavalier, was making a left-hand turn from northbound Palm Street to westbound Tropicana Avenue shortly before 9 a.m., Metro Police said. The intersection is just east of U.S. 95.

Police said the Chevrolet entered the path of a 2003 Kia Spectra, which was traveling east on Tropicana and struck the Chevrolet on the driver’s side.

The Chevrolet’s driver was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Chevrolet appears to have failed to yield at a stop sign and the Kia had the right of way, police said.

The driver of the Kia, 60-year-old Flordeliza Marcelo, of Henderson, was not injured, police said.

The identity of the Chevrolet’s driver will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after the next-of-kin is notified.

This is the 59th traffic fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year, police said.
