Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Matt Crosson will be on medical leave through the end of the year as he recovers from heart surgery and a stroke.
Crosson, 61, underwent open heart surgery about three weeks ago and suffered a stoke several days later, which requires several more weeks of rehabilitation, Chamber spokeswoman Cara Roberts said this morning.
Crosson is expected to make a full recovery and will return to his duties as president and CEO in early 2011, Roberts said.
While Crosson is on leave, the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce’s vice presidential leadership will continue to manage the day-to-day operations and Chairman Kristin McMillan will be in charge of strategic discussion, Roberts said.
Crosson replaced longtime President and CEO Kara Kelley in April. Before coming to Las Vegas, Crosson served as the the president and CEO of the Long Island Association in New York since 1993.
