Fireworks will be shot off from Strip casino rooftops for the upcoming New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Las Vegas Events and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority announced today that the displays will be shot from seven casino rooftop locations, which include MGM Grand, Aria, Planet Hollywood, Caesars Palace, Treasure Island, the Venetian and the Stratosphere. The locations are the same as last year.

“The America’s Party Fireworks display belongs on the rooftops,” LVE President Pat Christenson said. “With hundreds of thousands of revelers expected on the Strip, we’re confident that Fireworks by Grucci will design a show that is befitting of this city.”

Grucci of New York will again be responsible for the New Year's fireworks display. Grucci has produced Fourth of July shows in Las Vegas for the past 20 years, as well as two Olympic Games and celebrations on the Brooklyn Bridge.

Christen said LVE, the LVCVA and Grucci have worked closely with the Clark County Fire Department and Building Services to ensure both fire and structural guidelines.

Last year, the fireworks display returned to casino rooftops after being shot off from casino parking lots in 2008 because of changes in permitting requirements, which included hiring third-party fire safety consultants to evaluate rooftop conditions.

After complaints in 2008 from New Year’s Eve partiers that high-rise hotels blocked their view of the fireworks, LVE and the LVCVA worked to return the displays to the rooftops last year.

Las Vegas hosted an estimated 315,000 visitors during the 2009 New Year’s Eve celebration, according to the LVCVA.

  1. Glad to see the major casinos getting on board and planning on putting on a good New Years Eve program.

New Years eve is always great in Vegas!

After seeing 50+ New Years here I always look forward to the next one!

Vegas is the place to bring in the New Year!

  2. ACSLATER: Last year there was about 400,000 out of town visitors to Las Vegas for New Years eve. I don't consider that to be NO ONE.

You don't like the show, do your own.
