Brian Sandoval names 29 members of transition team

CARSON CITY – Gov.-elect Brian Sandoval has named 29 leaders in various categories to help him with the switchover to a new administration.

The transition committee will meet at least three times and will divide into various subcommittees to cover such topics as gambling, education, business and mining.

Sandoval, who takes office in January, said this group will help him get Nevada working again.

Gaming representatives include Bill Bible, former chairman of the state Gaming Control Board and now a member of MGM Resorts International's board of directors; Scott Nielsen, executive vice president and chief development officer of Station Casinos; and Tony Alamo Sr., former executive in Mandalay Resort Group.

Educators include Denny Voreck, deaf and hard of hearing teacher at Liberty High School in Henderson; Estela Gutierrez , president of the Washoe County School Board; Health Morrison, Washoe Superintendent of Schools; Joe Crowley, former president of UNR; and Terri Janison, president of the Clark County School Board.

Business leaders include Barbara Smith Campbell, former chairwoman of the Nevada Tax Commission and owner of Consensus LLC; Brett Coleman, owner Mercedes Benz of Reno; Duncan Lee, president of RDL Investment and Trustee of Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce; Jim Gibson, former Henderson mayor and president of VEGAS.com; Michael Yackira, president and CEO of NV Energy; Monte Miller, CEO of Key-State Corp.; Somer Hollingsworth, president and CEO of Nevada Development Authority; and Tom Kerr, senior vice president Newmont Mining Corporation.

Other leaders named include Aldo Aguirre of Alianza Consulting Group; Chris Collins, executive director of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association; Dr. Gail Jaquish, co-founder of Jaquish & Kenninger Foundation; Jay Barrett, officer in Marnell Companies; Ken Wiles, managing director of Acceleron Group; Patricia Mulroy, general manager of the Southern Nevada Water Authority; Rick Reviglio, owner of Western Nevada Supply; Rick Trachok, shareholder in Jones Vargas law firm in Reno; Steve Hill, senior vice president CalPortland Co. and member of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce; Tammy Dermody, owner Walton’s Family Funeral Homes and Terry Johnson, former state labor commissioner.

Others included Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki and State Senator Dean Rhoads of Elko.
