Girl Scouts ‘Green Friday’ online auction fundraiser begins this week

The Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada is holding its first online auction this “Green Friday,” one week before “Black Friday,” to support the regional chapter’s leadership programs.

Bidding for the “Green Friday” auction will start at midnight on Friday, Nov. 19, and end at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26. Shoppers can choose to bid on a variety of donated gifts, including Disney’s The Lion King tickets, a vacation package at Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas Wranglers tickets and jewelry.

Interested residents can log onto the auction, powered by the Bidding for Good website, on Friday at www.girlscoutsnv.org.

“We thought it’d be a fun way to get people in the holiday mood,” said Emily Smith, chief marketing and development officer. “Everybody loves to shop on Black Friday… it’s a great opportunity to gain some more exposure for our leadership program.”

The Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada is a national leadership organization that helps girls 5 to 17 years old build character and life skills in four areas of development: environment, science and technology, financial literacy and healthy habits. The regional chapter serves more than 10,000 girl and adult members throughout southern Nevada.
