The Spring Valley Town Advisory Board gave preliminary approval for Buzz BBQ’s application Tuesday night to operate a bar and outdoor dining area at its recently opened restaurant.
The barbecue restaurant’s newest location, 9640 W. Tropicana Ave., opened last Wednesday. Tee Pee Development, LLC, which manages the restaurant, has plans to offer a full-service bar with television sets for sporting events, patio seating and a dance floor for private parties.
“We’re expanding because we feel we have guests all over the valley,” said owner Mike Hanson. “We want to take our product to them.”
Tee Pee Development requested a several use permits for Buzz BBQ to move forward on its bar and patio plans. The Spring Valley town board approved all but one of the requests, which would have allowed a 1-foot distance between the patio area and the edge of the property.
County codes require a minimum of a 4-foot-wide pedestrian walkway around the perimeter of the patio for safety reasons. The restaurant owners plan to work with the county to meet the code requirements before the application goes before the Clark County Planning Commission on Dec. 7 for final approval.
