Marijuana plants discovered

A man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possession of marijuana with intent to sell after Metro Police say they discovered plants and equipment for growing at a house near Somerset Hills Avenue and Southern Highlands Parkway.

Seth Jungreis, 38, who was staying at the house but is not the owner, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday night, Metro Lt. Laz Chavez said.

Chavez said officers found 15 to 20 marijuana plants, hydroponic equipment, 10 to 12 one-gallon jugs of herbicides and pesticides, and fertilizer at the house in the 5100 block of Andriano Court.

Police were called to the house after Clark County firefighters, responding to an 8:37 p.m. report of a generator fire outside, discovered suspicious chemicals inside the house, county spokeswoman Stacey Welling said.

Chavez said firefighters initially thought the chemicals were being used for making bombs. After members of the bomb squad determined there was no threat, they called Metro’s marijuana team to investigate.

Chavez said the generator that caught fire was being used to power what appeared to be a marijuana grow operation inside the house.

Chavez said the cause of the fire was electrical in nature and the investigation is continuing.
