An executive for the M Resort has been named the new president and CEO of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Joseph Magliarditi, who has more than 16 years of hotel and gaming experience and most recently was executive vice president and chief operating officer of M Resort and Marnell Sher Gaming LLC, also was named executive vice president, gaming of Morgans Hotel Group Co., which operates the Hard Rock.

“I'm very pleased to welcome Joe to the Hard Rock team,” Fred Kleisner, chief executive officer of Morgans Hotel Group, said in a statement announcing the appointment today. “With his extensive gaming experience and his active commitment to the Las Vegas tourism industry, Joe will be a strong and valuable addition to the leadership of Morgans Hotel Group.”

Prior to working at the M, Magliarditi served as vice president of operations for Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. and its Rio property. He also was executive vice president, chief operating officer and a board member of Tririga Inc., a software company.

He replaces Kleisner, who was filling the position temporarily following the death of general manager Randy Kwasniewski in March.

Magliarditi will be required to be licensed in his new position by the Nevada Gaming Commission. He was licensed while at the M and Marnell Sher in May 2007.
