WASHINGTON -- Mexican President Felipe Calderon took his opposition to a new Arizona immigration law to Congress Thursday, saying it "ignores a reality that cannot be erased by decree."
Calderon's comments on the Arizona law and his request that Congress do something about the availability of high-powered weapons along the border drew criticism from several lawmakers saying he was interfering in U.S. internal matters.
The Mexican leader also told lawmakers reluctant to take up the immigration issue this year that comprehensive immigration reform is crucial to securing the two countries' common border.
Calderon, the first foreign national leader to address Congress this year, said he strongly disagrees with the Arizona law that requires police to question people about their immigration status if there's reason to suspect they are in the country illegally.
"It is a law that not only ignores a reality that cannot be erased by decree but also introduces a terrible idea using racial profiling as a basis for law enforcement," he said to cheers, mainly from the Democratic side of the chamber.
Speaking in English, he warned of the risk when "core values we all care about are breached."
Arizona's senior Republican senator, John McCain was not present at the joint meeting, while the office of Jon Kyl, the other Arizona senator, did not respond immediately to inquiries about whether Kyl was present. McCain attended a lunch with Calderon at the State Department Wednesday.
McCain issued a statement that it was "unfortunate and disappointing the president of Mexico chose to criticize the state of Arizona by weighing in on a U.S. domestic policy issue during a trip that was meant to reaffirm the unique relationship between our two countries."
And broaching another highly sensitive issue, Calderon urged Congress to restore a ban on assault weapons, saying easy access to high-powered weapons is contributing to drug-related violence along the border.
Calderon also took up the Arizona law in a meeting Wednesday with President Barack Obama, who referred to the law as a "misdirected expression of frustration."
The Mexican leader said his country was doing its best, by promoting more jobs and opportunities at home, to reduce the flow of immigrants to the United States.
But he stressed the "need to fix a broken and inefficient system ... the time has come to reduce the causes of migration and to turn this phenomenon into a legal, ordered and secure flow of workers and visitors."
Obama is pressing lawmakers to take up legislation that would deal with border security, employment and citizenship. It is questionable whether Congress, in an election year, has an inclination to tackle such a highly sensitive issue.
Calderon also got a standing ovation from Democrats when he asked the United States to stop the flow of assault weapons and other arms across the border and reinstate the ban on many assault weapons that was enacted in 1994 but allowed to expire during the George W. Bush presidency.
He said there are more than 7,000 gun shops along the border where almost anyone can purchase weapons.
Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn said it was inappropriate for Calderon to lecture Americans on state and local law. He defended the Arizona law and added: "moreover, the Second Amendment is not a subject open for diplomatic negotiation, with Mexico or any other nation."
Calderon led off his 40-minute speech by emphasizing Mexico's war against narcotics traffickers that has left roughly 23,000 dead since the end of 2006.
But he added that "we cannot ignore the fact that the challenge to our security has roots on both sides of the border." He cited a statement from Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton that, At the end of the day, it is high demand for drugs in the United States and elsewhere that drives much of the illicit trade.
Also attending the speech were Attorney General Eric Holder, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.
Democrats gave Calderon a rousing cheer when he said Mexico planned to have universal health care by 2012 and said that would be one less reason for Mexicans to migrate to the United States. He got smiles and applause from Republicans, as well as Democrats, when he said that in Mexico's efforts to recover from the recession no taxpayer money went to bail out banks.
Calderon broke into Spanish briefly to address Mexicans now living in the United States, saying Mexicans admire and miss them and are working to protect their rights.

WHY DID NO ONE STAND UP AND TELL THIS GUY THAT HE HAS NO RIGHT TO SAY ANYTHING ABOUT OUR INTERNAL AFFAIRS.
ARIZONA IS REPRESENTING THE UNITED STATES LAWS.
OF COURSE OBAMA WOULDN'T STAND UP FOR OUR COUNTRY, BUT WE HAD OTHER REPRESENTATION THERE, AND THEN THIS GUY GETS A STANDING OVATION.....
I WISH I HAD BEEN THERE TO HECKLE BOTH HIM, AND OBAMA.
Members of the Congress should have stood up and walked out during the speech. Our elected officials have no guts and to sit and listen to this nonscense from a foreign president is wrong. Mexico is a corrupt country that cares nothing for it citizens and exports its poverty to the US. Boycott Mexico and anything it produces!!!!
hahahaha.....what a joke! Calderon said about illegal immigrants: "Mexicans admire and miss them and are working to protect their rights".......if you are in the US illegally, you have no rights! They should have b*tch slapped his sorry behind back into Mexico! Idiots!
Just goes to show you the world is without leaders. The politicians in Mexico are no different than the ones here. If Caulderon doesn't like our laws I might suggest he keeps "his people" in his country and if he needs a little help with that I'm sure the people of Arizona will be happy to unload their prison population back across the border.
Unbelievable!!! There laws in Mexico are so draconic and he has the nerve to tell us anything. Our leaders suck....giving him a standing ovation. We should adopt there laws here and see what this piece of work says. Obama's a chump!!!!
You know.. these people have no business getting into the united states affairs let alone thinkingi ts okay to be illegal in the united states. This president needs to have his head examined. Where does he get off thinking we can afford to pay for his people.. let him take care of his own.. if they are a poor people that is not our fault.. they have our corporations there..they stole our jobs.. and this is wrong.. our corporations should not even be on the other side of the border.. dang morons
Calderon is in bed with Chapo Guzman and the Sinaloa drug cartel.
there taking over OUR country without firing 1 shot. some1 should of stood up and declared war against mexico. wish nevada would do the same as arizona.
Who else but the most anti-American president ever to serve allowing a foreign leader to take a big fat dump in our congressional hall....despicable......the Hussein Obama Regime must fall.......this is an embarrassment and an outrage. If all of you liberals like communism and socialism so well, why not just pack up and leave, we don't want any of you morons in our country anymore. Fear the Tea Party......
Why are we listening to this Bastard talk crap about laws in Arizona or the United States. Have our politicians looked at Mexico's immigration laws. We need to kick all the politicians who attended this speech out of office. I'm one American that is fed up with this crap. Americans arm yourselves they are coming to to take away your rights. Rise up or forever live on your knees!!!!!!!
The nerve of this guy to come here and bitch about the AZ immigration law when his own country has immigration laws 10x worse then anything the USA has.
Maybe Mr. Calderon should put his own house in order, before attacking us. Maybe if Mexico was not a corrupt narco-state, so many millions of it's people would not flee to the USA for a so-called "better life."
Of course Obama just sits there like some bootlicker apologizing to Calderon for everything. Pathetic. The fit is going to hit the shan if Obama tries to ram through some stupid amnesty plan. People have had enough!

Whether anyone here posting wants to acknowledge the following or not, doesn't matter, but here goes. There are two main reasons why illegal immigration has become such a major problem for the U.S. in recent years.
One: Entire American industries hiring cheap labor from down south by the hundreds of thousands. (Don't be mad at the migrant workers, be mad at American companies, the Fed whether Dem or Rep for looking the other way, and American consumers for demanding cheap goods.)
Two: America's drug habit. America consumes and demands more drug consumption than any other country in the world. The moment the market dries up, the problem will go away. American's desire to get high is helping to finance the Taliban, Muslim extremism and Mexican and Colombian drug cartels where people in those countries have paid the heaviest price.
Moral of the story, be made at our American greed and consumption.
Sorry, misspelling: Moral of the story, be mad at our American greed and consumption.
Axiom's comment hits the nail squarely on the head.
This is all about political posturing and nothing about resolution.
Arizona is doing the right thing; too bad the other 49 states aren't doing the same since our federal government clearly isn't interested in solving the problem.
Welcome to the land of liberal politicians
If you vote, vote all the liberal incumbents out of office. They are the reason America is so screwed up and why we're broke.
If you're white, hold on to your children and hide your wallets, you're paying way too much to support liberal policies and their token no good for nothing worthless voting pool.
If you voted for a liberal, you should be ashamed of yourself.
If you're American, take a stance and throw out all who oppose what America stands for, come to America legally. If you're anything else but American, leave, you're not welcome here anymore. You don't live in African America, Chinese America, Mexican America, Japanese America, Portuguese America, German America, Russia America, India America, Arab America, it's called America and you are now American if here legally. GOT IT!
I would have to ask, what would Mexico do if we opened the flood gate of the American prison system and provided a one-way pass for all prisoners to their country? We'd even pay for the fare and drop them off throughout all of Mexico. For once, they'd now how we feel about what these idiots promote.
Really think about it, that's what liberal have done to America, they let the dirtiest of the dirtiest roam America and do as they please, it's not their fault, it somebody else's fault. Welcome to America, you can rob, rape, steal, kill, and anything else and they want more of them in America and the sickest part, WE who PAY TAXES pay for all this, not our elected officals or Mexico.
As to the liberal party in office, they're career liars and thieves, they want illegal's to stay so their voting pool votes their no good for nothing lives back into office.
So for you Calderon, we don't like you or what you stand for, you stand for everything America hates, you are a corrupt just like the American liberal party. Now leave!
American needs to stand up and take back what Washington DC won't, permanently remove illegal's from America and Arm our borders with Americans who will do what they know it right, protect America.
Dear President Felipe Calderon,
Every night there are thousands lined up at the border ready to cross illegally into Mexico for a better life. What are your immigration policies in Mexico? Just a thought.
Look forward to your reply.
Wait until O'Reilly gets a hold of this one tonight!!!
Remember Ladies & Gentlemen, November's coming & it's time to make a change again!
This will get many more 1070's pasted across the country. It is too late to get one in Nevada, for the primary. But maybe in November or certainly next year. Calderon has made sure that imagrunt reform is dead.
The fault of liberals? How was that possible when the Republicans controole the House of Representatives from 1994 through 2009, and the Senate from 2000 through 2006? What the hell did these Republicans do about illegal immigration, Medicare and Social Security?
Thanks AXIOM:
You are a true person. One created by God, with a true heart, mind, and soul.
Thank you for your honest and sincere comment. I truly appreciated.
You showed no ignorance or hate toward immigrants.
I believe that we are in an era where the white people are suffering because they are afraid that immigrants/foreigners, especially Mexicans, will take over the U.S.
But do you not remember we already went through this when Africans were introduced to the U.S? So why Mexicans?
I'll tell you, because they can't fight back, not all of them. See most people are afraid of African-Americans, just try to make a joke about them in front of their face and see what happens. Right?
But, because Mexicans are more vulnerable, and by that I mean they are afraid to be deported, they hide and take the blame and punishments because they know that by themselves they can not fight back.
I can't believe it. I try no to get angry, but it's so hard when so many people are so ignorant.
Just remember this; Jesus died for our SINS, ALL OUR SINS. NOT JUST THE WHITE PEOPLE SINS. He did live in Egypt you know, and how many Americans lived there?
Thank You President Calderon ; The poor in Mexico suffer like our poor. The rich elites let the guns and dope pass freely. They want both the Mexican and American poor to remain "peons". It's so easy to pick on the powerless. This liberatarian Globaloney stinks !
For those who are over in Mexico illegally from America,
1917 Constitution of Mexico read and understand what Mexico demands of others.
http://www.ilstu.edu/class/hist263/docs/...
To simplify:
In Mexico legally;
Have the means to sustain themselves economically;
not destined to be burdens on society;
Of economic and social benefit to society;
Of good character and have no criminal records;and
Contributors to the general well being of the nation.
"The law also ensures that:
Authorities have a record of each foreign visitor;
Foreign visitors do not violate their visa status;
Foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the country's internal politics;
Foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are imprisoned or deported;
Foreign visitors violating the terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported;
Those who aid in illegal immigration will be sent to prison."
Again, Obama and Calderon take a hike and leave America! Neither one of you are welcome here anymore. You are both a disgrace.
America is a country that was taken by wiping out original natives and now white americans (mostly) feel impowered to begin (openly) racial profiling. I agree with Mexico's president... americans will lose all resemblance of their so called "core values" as white america returns to their intolerent ways and obsessive quest for human supremacy. Injustices will continue (more openly)to plague all non-white imigrants and african americans (just look at how much hate for Obama because he is a black president). We will see more and more jailed/caged impoverish blacks, and latinos will be booted out of the country in droves.
The tone of the comments here is--as expected-- both hysterical and disappointing. First, the United States is in a terrible position to chastize another government for having the temerity to criticize our laws, given that we have entire departments of our government dedicated to doing exactly that with reference to other nations' laws on a wholesale basis. Second, are those who back Arizona's measure so unsure in their convictions that they cannot abide by President Calderon's criticism? In my view, the Arizona measure is both immoral and unconstitutional insofar as it trespasses upon federal perrogatives, but if I felt otherwise, I would care not a whit about what President Calderon thought.
I am not sure how I feel about the Arizona law yet - no one really knows how often and how strict they will be when they enforce this law.
BUT - the president of Mexico has ZERO right to tell us how to regulate our country. The problem of illegal immigration from Mexico is due to the lack of job opportunities and education, overall corruption, and the huge gap between the rich and poor in that country. If Mexico did its job and kept its citizens safe, happy, and fed they would not be coming here in droves. Add in how strict Mexico is about US citizens immigrating to their country and his statements infuriate me!
STFU Felipe!
president calderon, two questions. why are there so many mexicans illegally immigrating into the united states every year? why are so many mexicans so desperate to leave mexico? mr. calderon?
Axiom with a typical liberal response. Illegal immigration is America's fault. Not the illegals breaking the law.
Unbelieveable.
The idea that a politician has no right to tell us they disagree with one of our policies is incorrect. It happens all the time. And the US does it all the time, too. Whether we agree is an entirely different matter.
Jaycooke, I think you're mistaken to put all the emphasis on illegal immigration at the feet of Mexico. WE hire these people by the tens of thousands, if not millions. OUR appetite for illegal narcotics fuels and finances the Mexican drug cartels. With all due respect, while I understand how any foreigner calling us out on our behavior, the problem and culpability of illegal immigration lies for the most part on US as a country and our government regardless of Rep or Dem.
@ Noindex Typical liberal response? Sure, keep your head buried in the sand, my friend. Without American industry and corporations hiring these people, they wouldn't be here. It's estimated that one million illegals have left the US as the economy has taken a down turn.
You want to hate these people? Be my guest. America looking for cheap labor is the root of the problem.
The law is unconstitutional under the 4th Amendment and also civil rights statutes. The state is facing a massive national boycott now that it cannot afford. Schwarzenegger and even far GOP'er Rick Perry, have rejected it for their states.
As Bush Sr. once said, "This Will Not Stand"...
-- saw a cool site; Balkingpoints ; incredible satellite view of earth
Axiom, yes America shares part of the blame for illegal immigration because we do not regulate the hiring of illegal immigrants.
But would people from Mexico come over here to work for such a small amount of money if they had similar or better opportunities in their own country? We also share a border with Canada and the same people who hire cheap Mexican labor would also hire cheap Canadian labor if they came at the same price. But Canadians don't come over here in the same numbers as Mexicans because their government does a better job of taking care of the lower classes than Mexico does.
@ Noindex BTW for the record I'm staunchly opposed to illegal immigration and if you've read my previous posts, you'd know that. Are illegal immigrants breaking the law here in the US? You bet. As the son of legal immigrants to this country, I think illegal immigrants hurt legal immigrants overall.
Jay, yes you're absolutely right on your comments. No disagreement. But again, these illegal immigrants are being hired in the hundreds of thousands (if not millions- reports vary) throughout the US. They know they have work here, despite the awful work conditions. In comparison to their abject poverty in Mexico, they rather work for all intents and purposes as indentured servants here.
The Fed, whether Rep or Dem, have purposely turned a blind eye to illegal hiring.
I don't think we disagree, I think we emphasize one over the other of a dual problem (Mexico's poverty vs our lack of enforcing labor laws).
reg373: saw a clip last night where AZ power commision has told LA if they want to boycott business in AZ then sell back the energy they buy from AZ. AZ supplies LA with 25% of its power. Lets see how tuff Shwarzeneggr and there commisioners are and how they respond. I can tell you they won't.Simple political posturing. Typical Libs state all talk no action.
I agree with mred, this will actually be a good thing for the US. With this jack ass from Me-hee-co making these statements, so many more states will start to pass laws like SB1070. So I am kinda thankful for that dumb @ss's comments!
Just stop at "Mexican President"...Who cares what his opinion is! He can't even handle his own country of morons and he's going to criticize our morons?!
How dare anyone come to the good old USA and THINK they can say anything they want to!!!!!! Oh how crazy can he be.
I guess it wasn't enough for Obama to apologize to Europe and the Middle East, now he's apologized to Mexico and as a result it's empowering this lackey-shill of a President from Mexico to slam one of our States.
Unbelievable..... well, we get what we deserve. This is what happens when you elect a poser and not a leader.....this goes for Mexico as well.
Wolf Blitzer nailed Calderon in a live follow-up interview. Calderon started out trashing the US then Wolf asked him what the laws were in Mexico and if Mexican police stopped people in the street and asked them for papers: Calderon said yes, of course.
disgusting. totally disgusting that OUR PRESIDENT would allow this guy to come to OUR country and criticize a state for creating a law that is already a FEDERAL law that our government chooses not to enforce.
sickening.
This is just another example of how our current communist government defaces America. Fall elections just around the corner REMEMBER THIS FOLKS!!!
We will see more and more jailed/caged impoverish blacks, and latinos will be booted out of the country in droves
Well, lets start with the "hate toward President Obama because he is black...answer a question, mprevilon how did he get elected in the first place, if there was so much hatered toward him being black instead his "empty credential portfolio?...his being "black" and "change" agenda is the only reason why he is where he is..no more and no less....
So, now lets back up the tape of what he is responsible for doing and NOT DOING while he was the Senator of Ill. this is a race issue? please...save it for people that are dumb enough to believe your propoganda.....
http://www.safehaven.com/article/4837/ho...
Ok ,I tells you people to look the udder way when my peoples cross into you country, dont be so mean to stop my peoples on da stttreet to aska them forda IDEES. Sank you vedddy mush
David1961:
Get a clue, America's dislike for Obama has nothing to with the color of his skin. Obama is disliked because of his stance on America and how is has desecrated America to the world.
When you take your head out of the dark hole and look at reality, you too will see what an idiot Obama is and what he stands for, he is and will always be known as a disgrace to America and all he stands for, evil sadistic no good nothing politician..
It is people like you that promote hatred and interject racism where racism has nothing at all to do with Obama. If you really had any common sense and knowledge of America you would find that liberals are the ones that promote and support racism. Liberals have divided people by race and force certain races to pay for their segregations, they know call it UDBE, Affirmative Action, Obama Care, etc" etc" etc"
I agree with Axiom. I would add that Calderon should expend his energies trying to make Mexico a nation where its citizens wish to remain and build a life. Instead, he comes to our nation and lectures us on what we should be doing to improve the lives of Mexican citizens.
Obama is laughing at the American people.
He's put us in so much debt(I see no new real jobs, homes still in forcloser),giving our tax $ to other countrys(why),doing nothing about our boarders,(Drugs, killings and illegal),oil slick in the Gulf(his watch dogs must have been taking a siesta), having Mex. President insaults the American people with that speech in our house.
I thinks its time to CHANGE President.
I hope those all hyped up on "Hope and Change" have wised up now. Proof, this so-called Socialist President will side against his own country. Shameful!
Why is the president of any country allowed to come to this country and question anything? Very disappointed in Obama who is black and if you are real black you know about racial profiling. They are illegal and should be treated as illegal. They have no rights because they came in the country with out completing the necessary paperwork. Politicians are scared to take a stand becauseof the power of the vote. But if I could revote Obama would lose mine. He is moreof the same old Washington. Tell Calderon he needs to go back to Mexico and deal with the drug war.
AXIOM! - No way. first IF American companies are still hiring illegals, then we can deal with that, but you can't tell me that 12 million freakin illegals (more or less) are employed.
Maybe the GOVERNMENT should STOP offering free medical, welfare and school to illegals....THAT'S WHY THEY ARE COMING HERE.
2nd - If America's wanting of drugs causes illegals to come to America.....why don't the Canadians get in on the action?
You know why? Cause the Mexicans and others from Central America that come over illegally (legal immigrants are always welcomed) - they do it mostly for the government hand outs.
Stop listening to the Obamaination and the White House Press.....it isn't our fault.
If you want a diamond ring do YOU steal it Axiom? Probably not because you are an ethical person. Illegals are unethical and criminals by definition. Period!
65,000 illegal immigrants graduate from U.S. high schools each year.
The most recent statistics cite annual illegal immigration rates dropped from 12.2 million as of January 2008 to 10.8 million as of January 2009. Part of this drop in immigration is due to the recession and the decrease of jobs in the weak economy.
"In October 2008, the illegal immigrant population stood at 11.9 million according to the Pew Hispanic Center."
According to a Pew Hispanic Center report, in 2005, 57% of illegal immigrants were from Mexico; 24% were from other Latin American countries, primarily from Central America; 9% were from Asia; 6% were from Europe; and 4% were from the rest of the world.
The Urban Institute estimates "between 65,000 and 75,000 undocumented Canadians currently live in the United States."
"There are approximately 7.7 million illegal aliens employed in U.S. jobs in 2008."
"A 1997 study by the American Academy of Sciences found that the cheap labor of illegal immigrants and poor immigrants caused a 44% decrease in wages among the poorest Americans from 1980 to 1994." - Center for Immigration Studies
"Amnesty for illegal immigrants will cause costs to increase significantly from $10.4 billion a year to $28.8 billion. This is because an amnesty program would transform an illegal immigrant to an "unskilled immigrant with legal status" who could access various government programs. However, due to low income, these "unskilled immigrants with legal status" would likely make very modest tax payments." - Center for Immigration Studies
" Illegal immigrants collectively represent a group that is a significant menace to the public. 80% have committed serious crimes in addition to immigration violations, and 40% have violent crime histories." - Center for Immigration Studies
"25-50% of all gangsters arrested in the criminal gang suppression efforts in northern and western Virginia are estimated to be illegal immigrants." - Study for Immigration Studies
"Gang investigators in Virginia estimate that 90% of the members of MS-13, the most notorious immigrant gang, are illegal immigrants." - Center for Immigration Studies.
There were an estimated 30,000 street gangs and more than 800,000 gang members active across the U.S. in 2007, up from 731,500 in 2002. New immigrants are susceptible to gang influences and activities because of language barriers, employment difficulties, support, protection, and fear.
Many cities, including Washington D.C., New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, San Jose, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Detroit, Jersey City, Minneapolis, Miami, Denver, Baltimore, Seattle, Portland, Oregon and Portland, Maine, have adopted sanctuary ordinances banning police from asking people about their immigration status. Sanctuary city is a term given to a city in the United States that follows certain practices that protect illegal immigrants. These practices can be by law (de jure) or they can be by habit (de facto). The term generally applies to cities that do not allow municipal funds or resources to be used to enforce federal immigration laws, usually by not allowing police or municipal employees to inquire about one's immigration status. The designation has no legal meaning.
Try performing the search `Obama Condemns`...apparently he has the right to express his beliefs of another country and the laws introduced by the controlling party.
How many more of these illegal immigrants are coming into the United States each year? Once again, it depends on who you ask but a ballpark figure is about half a million. Half a million illegal immigrants coming into the United States every year! That's well over 41,000 arriving every single month! Or about 1400 every day! So who are these masses of people who illegally invade our country every day? Where do they come from? According to the US Census Bureau, the largest group is from Central America, almost 37%, Mexico being the largest contributor there. The next largest group is from the Caribbean with about 10%. Asia contributes a full 25% of the total with South America, Europe and other regions making up the rest.
As some have pointed out we white people are afraid of those from south of the border. We are afraid they will bankrupt the healthcare system and hospitals we paid for with our tax money and premiums. We are afraid that they carry no insurance so in an accident of their making we foot the bill and get our rates raised and no recourse for serious injuries or death. Like the one who rear ended me, said "me sorry", turned off his lights and sped off into the night. We are afraid they are turning our cities and towns into barrios. We are afraid that we cannot afford to pay for the education and welfare of illegals. We are afraid that those coming here have no concept of birth control, babies are trophies to be ignored after birth. We are afraid those ignored babies will gravitate towards the gangs like they do now. We are afraid history will repeat itself and any kind of amnesty will result in even more illegals rushing the border making the problem worse. We are afraid that with the high birth rates the population explosion will result in turning this once great nation into the worlds biggest barrio. We are afraid for those who lost their jobs not because they were lazy or slackers, but because they were white. We are afraid illegals paying little or no taxes will cause our taxes to rise. Or bankrupt the country. We are afraid that all that money that is made here and sent to Mexico does not support our businesses or create jobs in the USA that would also create tax revenue. We are afraid that these people come here for the money and show no gratitude or alligence to the country that befriended them. We are afraid the rich are so greedy they will use cheap illegal labor to get even richer while undermining the country that gave them opportunites to get rich. Opportunities those rich people would deny to their fellow legal citizens. We are afraid that employers who are addicted to cheap illegal labor will not make an effort to effectively run their businesses making us non competitive with other countries. Yes we are afraid.
I think the boycott of Arizona is a great idea. So many people who never wanted to visit that great state claim they are making plans to visit. With most Americans solidly in the illegal go home camp Arizona better gear up for the better days that are coming. A lot of those travelers would have visited states calling for a boycott but will visit Arizona instead.
For all you bleeders out there, it's all about resources. An exploding population of immigrants was fine in 1850 but this is 2010. Stop with the intellectual fanatising and get with reality. We would need to build more of everything to accomodate our "guests" and their exploding broods. This on top of already crumbling infrastructure and no money to pay for anything. The intellectuals are always whining about urban sprawl, crime, welfare, highways, traffic congestion, pollution, scarcity of medical personnel and facilities, depletion of scarce resources. All of which will increase with increased immigration and the increased birth rate. Who will pay for all this? With a vast majority of illegals doing low wage work paying little or no taxes they will not be paying their way. Especially if they keep sending every spare dime back home.
It's fine for you "caring" people to talk of boycotts and racism as long as the loss of rights and jobs is contained to the working class Americans. What if started giving jobs held by priests, ministers, managers, engineers, teachers, etc. to illegals at the expense of our own? Your attitude would be competely different when some illegal was putting food on his table with earnings from your job. The job you longer have. What if the colleges started a new round of affirmative action with preferences for illegals at tapxpayer expense. The upshot being so many of high school and college kids marching for illegals rights no longer have a slot at college no matter how hard they worked. With the illegals getting free or highly subsidized education the bleeders who did make it had to pay top dollar because public funds were exhausted. Would you be marching in support for illegals if this happened to you? Not a chance.
I am an American because my father came to Hawaii as an immigrant laborer....legally.He joined the Army at the outbreak of WWII.That entitled him to become a citizen and as a result I was born in the USA.Over the years I've witness my parents petition many of our relatives to immigrate to Hawaii. They followed the rules, waiting months, sometime years before the were allowed to enter the U.S..They then went through the process of becoming naturalized citizens. My mother even taught citizenship classes.
It is unfortunate that a majority of the illegals are Hispanic thus they feel that the Arizona law is directed primarily at them. That may be,but the law covers all illegal aliens.
Maybe Arizona should repeal this law and strengthen the laws that punishes businesses that hire illegals.Make the penalties harsh,MANDATORY jail time, and HUGE fines. If there is no work they won't come. Wanna work get a green card.
Go Back to Mexico!!!!!!
It took my late father 20 years to become a naturalize US citizen After he served in WWII with US 1st Cavalry Division.
Since when did calling a person "bleeder" become a bad word. Is it wrong to care about others? Is americans so selfish that anyone who cares for the poor and underprivilge ridiculed and labeled a bleeder or a socialist? Personally I'm proud to be a bleeder. The definition of socialism is "a theory or system of ownership of the means of production and distribution by society rather than by individuals". I certainly understand FEAR I know that it makes most people indifferent, angry, racist, and discontent. But as a 32 year old human being with three children I plan to die with hope and optimism in my heart... it makes me a happier person. I will continue to volunteer my time and my service to the poor and homeless, and especially the addicted. I will teach my children to tolerate others that look and speak different. As usual I am a minority... not in skin color but in thoughts. I do not abide by america's "God bless me, my family and no one else".
Yes, vote out Obama and anyone who will make efforts to help minorities or the poor... they are "bleeders or socialist". This is the New Age of FEAR and Vengeance! I'm sure we have more Regan and Bush-like candidates to keep this new age going.

Sure this is a great idea, but how will the businesses know if a person is illegal or not without asking them for identification and social security number. Make everyone applying for a job prove they are in the country legally.
Just have obama and his congress agree to a nation-wide law that requires every person in the U.S. to have papers showing their status. If they don't have them, then find out why they don't have them and if they can't explain why they don't have papers, then lock them up and put them on policed work details 8 hours a day 6 days a week until they fess up. Then send them back to where they came from by police escort to their country of choice with a free ticket if needed.
I think all states should adopt the Arizona law! Our freakin government has become a total joke!! Obama being a head clown!!!
What a bunch of ignorant, isolationist, rednecks you all are. How can you blame Obama for the current state of things? "W" put us here. As for foreign dignitaries addressing our government, it happens all the time. Do you think this is new? In terms of people coming to this country seeking opportunity, guess where your ancestors came from and what they were looking for. If you think they have come here to steal your job, who is going to build a new roof in 100 plus degree weather, You? Heck no. Who's going to clean the offices and landscape your yard, you? Heck no, you're too lazy. They do the things we Americans don't want to do. Millions of Americans choose to do nothing and live off of welfare everyday and would never consider doing manual labor because they feel it's beneath them. WTF? I have more respect for the 12 hour day, low pay, hard working immigrant than many of you. I don't disagree with the Az law, but I do disagree with the attitude of "White is right" (Right is white). How many countries do we have our fingers in right now? And you complain when someone looks at us funny. Stop commenting on things you know only enough about to get yourself in trouble and learn how to spell people, for crying out loud. It's embarrassing to read your posts sometimes.
Ok its2hot....
look at the original comment and look at what I said....
The original comment which was contained in paragraph #1 was someone elses and I commented on the comment, make sense?...you make yourself out to be a retard when you come back at some of this stuff....take a little time and look at it from a 7 or 8 point of view and then come and talk to me like an Adult....
I cannot believe that congress would even allow this corrupt leader of Mexico in the door. If his government wasn't so corrupt his people wouldn't be coming here in the first place. With all the natural resources that Mexico has there shouldn't be a shortage of jobs in that country. Mining, oil, farming , should be strong in that country but the government doesn't want Mexican people to succeed. Until the people of Mexico revolt against thier crooked government there will always be an immigration problem.
AZnative...
what scares me about you more than anything else is the fact that you make comments before cultivating facts and opinions on both sides of the issue, and there are probably more than several dozen idiots that believe your doctrine, at the drop of a hat..how on earth can this be such a "cut and dry" issue when you have every culture and race on the face of the planet right here in the US....
There are three major problems with all this. No.1 once in this country we have no means of tracking anyone and I'm speaking of those coming in here legally.No.2 Mexicans are NOT THE ONLY ONES coming into the US "illegally".For that reason alone the US must do everything in our power to close that opening. No.3 The mexican President says NOTHING about what he is going to do to STOP the flow of illegals coming in, why? because Mexico can't support their own people.Fact is,if ALL the illegals turned around and went back to Mexico, the Mexican President would take extreme measures to STOP the flow back into Mexico. But that's not our problem is it?Borbers else where overseas are easy to maintain due to the small size of those countries. Many European countries are the size of one of our smallest states. If we were completely surrounded by ocean...we wouldn't be having this discussion.
When it's all said and done, the old Vegas way of taking care of business, a yard of concrete and a boat ride never failed them!
David1961 - I apoligize, didn't the "..." in the paragrpah.
Hey Calderone! F___ you and the donkey you rode in on!!
Calderone is just a glorified pimp coming over here to protect his cash flow! He comes over here and bitch slaps this country in front of our own government to show obama how it's done. Talk about lack of being respected, I'm still waiting to see how obama goes about laying down for North Korea.
A State Dinner for this arrogant Mexican fool, oh well. Both Republicans and Democrats are to blame for the onslaught of these illegals in the USA. Government agencies task to protect Americans are all doing a disservice to citizens of this country. The United States does a better job protecting other countries' borders while totally neglecting our own borders. Close all the overseas bases, what a waste of my tax money. The ones directly benefiting from these bases are the host countries. It is about time for our politicians to protect our land from the the onslaught of illegals in this country.
Look at the percentage of comments here that are pro Arizona's enforcement of the Federal Immigration Law, and con El Presidente Calderone sticking his nose in our business. Lets fight back people. Vote for candidates willing to pursue and follow Arizona's lead. Lets take back our Country!!!
my,my,my our patriots wake up w/vehemence. i wonder how may of you were aroused to action when we needed manpower for iraq or afghanistan? or, are you like a former vice president who never heard the call and hid in his bunker?
As I see it, the danger is that the American people living in states such as Nevada, Arizona, Texas, California, New Mexico, etc will eventually become more like Mexico and lose their American identity. It is happening, and happening very quickly. What happens when American citizens living in the northern states retire and want to move to the Las Vegas area or Phoenix because of wonderful weather and all of the ammenities, but are afraid to do so because of mexican crime, hordes of mexicans, and getto housing? Then, good American citizens will be forced to flee these southeaster states. Horrible thoughts, but it could happen. Look at the massive changes in just the past couple of years.
I never knew that the definition of an american is White or Anglo. You know i am an american and damn proud of it but when i see a bunch of idiots posting remarks like the ones on this web site sickens me. I am Hispanic and had my grandfather not walked while his feet blead and starved himself to make a better life for him and his family i would not be here today standing up for my race. Yes he became a citizen after coming into this country but many dont have the money or are simply turned away by people who think like you. No i don't think that every single person who comes here should become a citizen but the criticism that comes out of some of you is beyound beleviable. People wonder why our children are growing up the way they are with all this anger, hate and greed well i guess you might say Some have parents like you. It's one thing to stick up for your country and your rights but like i said before were does it say that all americans are white so for all of you who say go back to your country, there are a hell of a lot of mexicans and hispanics that are americans livng here in the USA so i say to you VIVA LA RAZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once you have figured out how to keep illegals into the country start working on stopping your own fugitives from coming into Canada - we are sick of having to deport your criminals...but I guess that is someone else's responsibility, right?
How much of these illegal drugs are being brought into this country to supply the users that came from south of the border?
Before our leaders are so quick to apologize for the use of illegals drugs by people in this country, let's find out how much responsibility American Citizens really have.
Does no one else see the parallel between the spread of illegals throughout the country and the spread of the Mexican gangs?
So many people believe we should have OPEN BORDERS, that our LAWS should not apply to ILLEGAL ALIENS (Mexican or otherwise).
Well, the upshot of all this liberal, compasionate thinking is brewing a political disaster of NATIONAL PROPORTIONS - waiting to happen. It is called: SECESSION.
What will happen, and how?
The activities of LA RAZA, Al Sharpton, legal and illegal MEXICANS, and other AMERICAN SUPPORTERS of illegal immigration cause the DESTRUCTION of the "UNITED" States of America.
Don't believe this? I have a single-page flyer that I found in front of my garage door that shows the BOUNDARIES of various western States of the United States being REDRAWN as new - repossessed - States, to be known as: "AZTLAN."
ILLUSTRATION:
an automated map showing the sequence of AMERICAN Annexation, and MEXICAN Secession, of the "AZTLAN" territories.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...
The POLITICAL process for this to happen - probably including violent means (as is already happening) - is, loosely called, "Reconquista."
It is a plan that Mexicans have to take back "their land" - which is shown as from Texas (on the east) to California (on the west) - and as far north as Washington State - all claimed as "Alta California: and "Nuevo Mexico."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reconquista...)
In our previous AMERICAN HISTORY, we assembled the original 13 Colonies, various Territories, and new States into the: "UNITED" STATES OF AMERICA.
With the political climate and hateful rhetoric against illegal aliens - and the illegal AND legal alien's actions - our National Laws and National Security could well be reversed.
HISTORY does, indeed, REPEAT ITSELF. Many nations have been torn apart, and new ones created out as a result.
SOME EXAMPLES OF THIS, less we forget:
The USSR, Korea, Iraq, Germany, Ireland, the British Empire, South America, Yugoslavia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Macedonia... the list goes on.
THIS CAN HAPPEN IN THE UNITED STATES if we do not control our BORDERS, ENFORCE LEGAL IMMIGRATION, FOLLOW OUR LAWS, AND GET SOME COMMON SENSE TO ALL THIS.
300 Million Americans are depending on law enforcement to protect and defend our nation; not make jokes about it. This is in the U.S. Constitution, and is the law of our land.
So, You say "Viva La Razza" when the laws of THIS country don't suit YOUR needs, How typical! What are you looking to do, Breed the country into submission. "The Race", Sounds pretty racist to me. I'll tell you what, Let's scrap the immigration laws that are on the books now and replace them with Mexico's! Oh, And by the way Mr.Pride, If your going to call yourself out as "THE RACE" I would prefer you do it in ENGLISH!
I am an immigrant and I am pro immigration but I can understand where Arizona is coming from with this law. I think people need to stop looking at this as a racial issue and look at the reality of Arizona's situation. The border fence in California and parts of Texas has worked well to stanch the flow of illegal immigration so many Mexican illegal immigrants are coming through the border with Arizona. Most illegal Mexican immigrants are hard working people who just want jobs to feed their families but some are not "impoverished family people" but criminals involved in nefarious activities like drug running, human trafficking and illegal firearms. These bad apples can ruin the bunch and strike fear in the hearts of the legal residents of Arizona. Do Arizonans have the right to be scared? Just look in the news and you'll see the candidate for President, Diego Fernandez de Cevallos, was kidnapped from his ranch in Mexico. Organized crime is so powerful in Mexico that they can get to just about anyone. Now that organized crime element is making a home for itself in Arizona. On April 30th news broke of a major drug ring bust involving 39 Mexican cartel operatives and 40,000 pounds of Marijuana that was moving across Southern Arizona. Drug and narcotics prosecutions are up 202% in Arizona. It is so bad there that if you are smuggling less than 500 pounds of Marijuana you likely won't be prosecuted but sent back to Mexico because there are just too many cases to process them all. Look at the murder of Rancher Robert Krentz in Arizona and the shooting of Sheriff's Deputy Louie Puroll and you can see why the people or Arizona think they need new tough laws to protect them.
You show a drivers license every time your pulled over by the cops right? Is it profiling if cop wants to see if you are licensed to drive. NY state has vagrancy laws meaning if you have no ID you can be charged with vagrancy. How is a cop asking you for valid state ID in NYC different than a cop asking someone for a valid ID in Arizona? Think about this logically and not from a racial point of view and maybe you'll see the sense behind this law. President Felipe Calderon should clean up his own house because his government's lack of action and ability had lead to the present situation. If he calls this law racial profiling then it's his government's lack of action against the criminal elements of his nation that have lead to the profiling.

You make some very good, logical, and rational points. Thanks for your input to this discussion. I hope your comments on the subject of ID are read and understood by those who oppose ID checks.
As an analogy to the arguments you present about checking ID's, that is what the police do in EVERY STATE when the set up a "holiday" road-block to check for drunk drivers - or for any other criminal-catching situation.
SO,if we don't TRUST the police to do their job correctly, we have ways to remedy what they do, at-law. But without laws, and the enforcement of laws - we will NOT have a UNITED country - and the United States will become a violent wasteland.
I pray that such conditions will not evolve, but in the scenario I wrote about in my prior post (a few above this one) I noted how such an insurrrection could happen. This is NOT my opinion; it is a fact.
Well Mr. Spock my advise to you is to beam your tail back out of this world and realize this law may not have meant to come out racial but some people are making it that way. The reason for my comment was some bone head before my message made very racial remarks towards mexicans, But due to his rude and racial remarks his message was taken off this site.By the way there is nothing written that we have to speak only english in this country "MI Amor". If laws are made to protect our country so be it but at the same time it is our responsability protect other countries from our drugs and guns taken into there country from our border towns, And im sure the canadians feel the same way about americans going into there country and breaking there laws but hmmm is anyone tring to put a stop to that? Oh one more thing to your comment about breeding yeah i say we (mexicans) love to have kids thats why we are multipling by the dozen so you will see many more " Mexicans" all around you!! Hasta luego mi amigo! (try google)
