Shooting location

The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified a man shot to death by a homeowner Saturday as 20-year-old Jason Anthony Gallegos of Henderson.

Metro spokesman Marcus Martin said police received a report that a man was running through a yard at 6:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of Hudson Bay Avenue, near Pecos and Bonanza roads. A man went outside after he heard what he thought to be a possible intruder, which led to a confrontation in the home's driveway.

Police say Gallegos, wearing a black hoodie, approached the homeowner, then tried to spray him with pepper spray.

The homeowner then fired multiple shots at Gallegos, the coroner's office said. His death has been ruled a homicide.

It is unknown whether the homeowner knew Gallegos, police said.

CORRECTION: This story has been updated and changed to reflect that the homeowner who fired the fatal shots was a man, not a woman. | (May 4, 2010)
