Coroner identifies driver, 93, killed in crash near Strip

Accident location

The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified a 93-year-old man who died Sunday after his vehicle rolled onto its roof in a parking lot east of the Strip as John Memcor of Las Vegas.

The coroner's office said Memcor died of multiple blunt force trauma as a result of the wreck. His death has been ruled accidental.

The wreck occurred at about 9:35 a.m. on Paradise Road south of Karen Avenue, which is just south of the intersection of Paradise and Sahara Avenue. Investigators said Memcor was northbound on Paradise when he lost control of his 1987 Ford T-bird.

The vehicle veered west, struck the northwest curb and went through a chain-link fence into a parking lot. The vehicle then struck a utility pole, causing it to overturn, police said. The crash might have been the result of a medical issue, authorities said.

Memcor was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
