Fatal shooting

A convenience store clerk died during an apparent robbery attempt Wednesday morning in North Las Vegas.

Police responded at about 2 a.m. to the 7-Eleven store at 2100 E. Cheyenne Ave., which is at the intersection of North Civic Center Drive.

North Las Vegas Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said two people entered the store in an apparent attempt to rob the clerk. One of the suspects was armed with a gun and shot the clerk multiple times, police said.

The clerk, identified as a 38-year-old Las Vegas man, was taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit, where he died.

No arrests have been made but police are reviewing surveillance video from the store. Coon said investigators also are interviewing possible witnesses to the shooting.

Authorities weren't releasing details about the suspects. This is the fifth homicide in North Las Vegas this year.
