Bail was set at $100,000 Monday for a man arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after allegedly running over a man lying in a convenience store parking lot waiting for an ambulance.

William Senf, 34, was arrested and charged with one count of DUI with substantial bodily harm after running over a 43-year-old man about 3:50 p.m. March 17 at a convenience store in the 4800 block of West Tropicana Avenue. Officers determined alcohol was a factor, police said.

He is scheduled to appear in front of Justice of the Peace Melanie Andress-Tobiasson on Friday for a status check. Defense attorney Terry Jones said counsels will discuss Senf’s bail amount and custody status at the hearing.

Police said the 43-year-old man who was ran over had been involved in a fight nearby and was lying in the parking lot waiting for an ambulance when he was hit by Senf’s 2001 Ford Mustang.

Witnesses detained Senf until officers arrived, police said.

The medical status of the pedestrian, whose name hasn’t been released, is unknown at this time, Jones said.
