Officer-involved shooting

Metro Police fired their weapons Monday before arresting a woman in connection with assault with a deadly weapon after she allegedly led officers on three pursuits and tried to run two police officers over near the Stratosphere.

Metro spokesman Jay Rivera said two officers tried to stop the woman’s vehicle at about 7:10 a.m. in the south alley of the 200 block of West Philadelphia Avenue. That location is between Las Vegas Boulevard and Industrial Road, north of Sahara Avenue.

He said two officers approached the vehicle on foot and the woman tried to run the two officers over. Both officers drew their weapons and fired a total of at least three rounds, Rivera said.

The driver of the car was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. No one was injured, police said.

Rivera said it is unknown why the woman was evading police. He said officers searched her car and only found an expired tag.

The woman didn't appear intoxicated or under the influence of any substance at the time of arrest, police said.
