A Pahrump man was charged Friday with impersonating an officer after he allegedly flashed a badge and told a real police officer he could be arrested for wearing his gun at a casino, the Nye County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Robert Theodore Holmes, 56, of Pahrump was charged with impersonation of an officer and resisting a public officer, officials said.
An out-of-state officer in Pahrump on official police business reported that a man at the Pahrump Nugget flashed a “deputy” badge and told him it was illegal for him to have his gun visible with a badge from another state, the sheriff’s office said. The man also told the officer he could be arrested, officials said.
Nye County detectives obtained a warrant to search Holmes’ wallet for a badge, and Holmes resisted, authorities said.
Holmes was being held Friday at the Nye County Sheriff’s Office, officials said. Bail was set at $3,132.
