A man who allegedly lost control of his vehicle and fatally struck a pedestrian in December entered a guilty plea today in district court to one count of reckless driving.
Mahmod Alseidahmad, 25, appeared before District Court Judge James Bixler, where he pleaded guilty to the charge in connection with a Dec. 9 collision that left Dennis Dietrich, 56, of Celebration, Fla., dead and Willard Hilborn, 60, of Rancho Mirage, Calif., seriously injured. The men, who were in Las Vegas for a trade show, were struck as they were walking along a sidewalk on Desert Inn Road.
A sentencing date was set for May 13. Alseidahmad could face up to six years behind bars.
A report prepared by Metro Police at the time of his arrest indicated witnesses told police that shortly before the wreck, they saw Alseidahmad’s black 1995 Honda Accord traveling at about 70 mph, weaving in and out of traffic. After the driver lost control, the vehicle spun and its rear struck the pedestrians. The car came to rest after striking a light pole, the police report said.
Tests revealed Alseidahmad didn’t have alcohol or drugs in his system.
Alseidahmad has been in the Clark County Detention Center since his arrest shortly after the accident.

6 yrs max for killing someone? Is that justice?
Reckless hit and run driver, killed my brother. He got two to five years. Also, his time is being served concurrent with his check fraud and identity theft charges. Oh, and he gets credit for time served.
The Nevada Judicial System is all show, no go. Might be why Las Vegas crime is out of control. Just an observation.
Well the crime wasn't intentional, however I can empathize with the victims families. To lose someone in this way is terrible and then to feel as though justice was not served.
Now if this was a hit and run this guy would hopefully get alot more time.
I agree with you kuntakente. This man's sentence should have been much much longer.
