Rally for One will start its national tour Wednesday at Freakin’ Frog.

Most bands head to the L.A. area, the Mecca of all things artist-oriented, when looking to record an album. In that sense, Rally for One, who kicks off its two-and-a-half-month tour Wednesday at the Freakin' Frog, did things a bit backward when working on its second studio album, Four Sides to Everything.
The bubbly, pop rock outfit from Long Beach, Calif., not only chose Las Vegas as the tone setter for its nation-spanning tour, but the quartet also opted for the desert and the home studio of local producer David Carey for Four Sides instead of sticking around the supposed talent capital of the world.
Carey, who produced the band's previous 2008 release, Dreamin', originally worked with Rally for One while living in California. Vocalist and drummer John Humphries says the choice to go with Carey a second time was a no-brainer, despite Carey's Vegas location meaning the group would have to make a bit of a commute.
"We really liked [Carey]. He was so easy to work with, and he's very honest, which we liked, because we wanted to get as good of a sound as we could," says Humphries.
While the band members have a history with Las Vegas, they are virgins to performing in front of local audiences, which have been known to have short attention spans. Thankfully, Rally for One has a game plan for keeping Freakin' Frog's bar crowd focused on the stage.
"The thing that sets us apart is there's not one lead singer; we all sing lead and we all sing back-up. ... It's fun for the shows because you never get tired of listening or watching the same person," says Humphries.
