The Henderson Fire Department said this morning that a Monday afternoon blaze at a golf course home caused nearly $300,000 in damage.
Battalion Chief Mike Gibson said the fire at 248 Country Club Drive along the Black Mountain Golf Course started in the kitchen and appears to have been accidental in nature. A resident at the home escaped the fire unharmed.
Fire crews brought the blaze under control within about 15 minutes. One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated and released from the hospital.
Gibson said fire crews were able to salvage some of the homeowners' valuables, but the rest of the home and its contents were a complete loss. The home was valued at $165,000 with a loss of about $135,000 in contents, which included a recreational vehicle.
About 20 seconds after firefighters were dispatched to the home fire, officials responded to another fire at Outdoor Living in the Whitney Ranch area of Henderson. Crews contained the structural fire in the business’s workshop area and no injuries were reported.
The fire at Outdoor Living caused about $115,000 in damage, as well as another $15,000 to contents. Investigators were trying to determine the cause of the fire.

There are so many house fires lately. This sounds suspicious.
I don't understand...how can the house be a total loss if the fire was under control in 15 minutes? Since it's on a golf course I'm assuming it's a large house. If so, there's no way a "total loss" structure fire could be contained in 15 minutes.
Can't help stupid! Accidental means someone was doing something careless in their home. The homes on this golf course are not special except to the owners. This is a public course and most of the homes are smaller and older. My guess is the RV had more value than the home!
