Las Vegas native Darington Hobson's long and winding basketball journey will now take him to Milwaukee.

After spending last season at New Mexico, Hobson entered the 2010 NBA Draft early, and Thursday night he was selected 37th overall — early in the second round — by the Milwaukee Bucks.

Hobson attended Western High as a ninth grader, but then finished up his prep years by attending several other schools, both in California and Texas. He committed to Steve Alford at Iowa as a high-school senior, but ended up attending Eastern Utah Community College for two years.

He ultimately played for Alford at New Mexico last season, where he led the Lobos to a school-record 30 wins and a No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament on top of a Mountain West Conference regular-season championship.

In his lone season as a Lobo, the 6-foot-7 Hobson averaged 15.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. He also garnered MWC Player of the Year and third team All-American honors.

Barring a trade from the Bucks, he will take part in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas beginning July 9.
